‘The key is the hat’, an exhibition in support of Spanish craftsmanship
Balel Luxury Hats, the Spanish handmade brand created by the hat artist Isabel Terroso arrives at Galería Canalejas with an exhibition that celebrates the tradition and art of Spanish millinery.

Under the title ‘La Clave es el Sombrero’ (The Key is the Hat), his original monteras-joya, unique creations that embody excellence from the naturalness, supporting the recovery of artisan techniques used more than a hundred years ago, are exhibited.
HAT-SHAPED JEWELLERY
The exhibition, which coincides with the San Isidro Fair festivities, highlights the work of Isabel Terroso, the artist behind Balel. After ten years working as an engineer, the artisan decided to change her career path to follow her passion for creating hats. Using classic techniques from the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s, she makes bridal hats that combine trendiness and simplicity with refined elegance and glamour.
His designs, characterised by clean, refined lines, have attracted the attention of such prestigious fashion houses as Dior and Chanel, allowing him to open his own atelier where he carries out his creative process and attends to his clients. The exhibition at Galería Canalejas shows a selection of her jewellery bags, each one with a unique design full of details and meticulous craftsmanship that turns them into real jewels.

With this exhibition, Galería Canalejas reinforces its commitment to Spanish crafts and its support for local artists. Seeking not only to offer exclusive experiences, but also to encourage the preservation of craft traditions and provide a platform for artisans like Isabel Terroso to showcase their talent.
In addition, as part of this initiative, Galería Canalejas will offer two sessions of encounters with the artist Isabel Terroso, giving the public the opportunity to learn more about the art behind handmade headwear. These meetings will take place on 17 and 31 May in the Private Lounge of Galería Canalejas, where visitors will be able to interact with the artist and learn more about the creative processes and techniques used in her designs.
